Golden Self - Vegan Cashew Cheese Sause Recipe
Golden Cashew Nacho Cheese Dipping/Pouring Sauce. Hmmmmm - If anyone would have told me, even last year, that I would be raving about something other than delicious, creamy, real cheese in a sauce, or, that anything could come close to imitating it, I would have said that you might be just a little bit crazy! However, since finding this recipe I can honestly say that it sure comes very close and, in some ways, may work better for the way we have chosen to take our eating these days! Try this out and I’ll bet you will be as surprised as we were!
Ingredients:
2 cups raw cashews
3 Tablespoons lemon juice
3 cups water
1/2 cup nutritional yeast
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
12 teaspoon chili powder
2 teaspoons salt (or to taste)
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
optional - 1-2 teaspoons sriracha
Method:
Quick soak cashews by pouring boiled water into a bowl and let stand for 10 mins
Once done, drain and add to high speed blender
Add all the other ingredients
Blend for 3-5 mins until very smooth
Transfer to a medium pot on medium heat
Whisk to thick and bubbly
Taste and adjust
Serve hot OR
Cool and chill - will keep up to a week
