Henrietta is a cheerful young hen who is certain she knows what will make her feel like a proper chicken: laying her very first egg.

But when the big day arrives, nothing happens.

With encouragement from her friends, a little laughter, and an unexpected adventure, Henri begins to discover that there is much more to being herself than doing one particular thing perfectly—or exactly on schedule.

And when her first egg finally arrives, it is certainly worth waiting for: enormous, brown, beautifully speckled, and impressive enough to bring the whole chicken community running.

Warm, playful, and full of farmyard friendship, Henrietta and the Enormous Speckled Egg is a heartfelt story about patience, courage, self-acceptance, friendship, and discovering that who you are is much bigger than any one thing you can or cannot do.
