Spirit Animals

For over 28 years I have worked with people and animals. Sometimes I was asked to work with large animals like horses, and other times sweet pets like dogs and cats. There were times when an animal would approach me and place a sore joint or challenged part of their body next to me, touching me so I could help them. I didn’t describe myself as an animal communicator and yet there were times when I could hear their hearts and their words like a Dr. Dolittle person. I have a couple of examples……..

I was on a healthy eating and exercise retreat in Ojai, which is a gorgeous wooded area outside of the mainframe of Los Angeles. One of my fellow retreat women and I were taking a gentle hike through the woods, picking the most juicy, sweet fresh oranges from the trees, when we met someone she knew from way back in college. They were busy chatting, while the woman’s dog came over to me and placed her left hip against my leg. That sweet white fluffy dog began speaking to me, telling me her life story as a rescue animal, and asked me to help heal her hip. I crouched down and touched her hip. I heard her story and the grief of her life flooded through me as gentle tears fell, while I worked on her. She thanked me and let me know her hip felt much easier. When I stood up, the two women were staring at me and the dog’s owner was visibly moved. She asked me what just happened. I shared my interaction with her dog, letting her know she was very grateful for the love and kindness she received from her. The woman wept and hugged me, as we left. The dog sent me a huge loving mention of gratitude and I was deeply touched by the connection we had just shared.

Another sweet story was when I half owned a healing center and a client who lived on one of the close -by horse ranches, came in very stressed out. Her dog had gone deeper into her outer woods and was poorly from contracting poison oak. He was a sweet golden retriever and she couldn’t get him well. I asked her to bring him the next day and tie him up on a long comfortable leash so I could administer some essential oils. I brought together a great recipe and rubbed it throughout his fur, as deeply into the skin as I could reach. I also gave her a large 8oz bottle to take home and rub into him night and morning for as long as the bottle lasted. If it hadn’t completely disappeared by the time the bottle ran out, she could call me and we would decide what was needed next.  He was already way more comfortable by the time they left and within half the time it took for her to use the bottle, his symptoms had vanished. There is a power of healing with the essential oils of the World’s plant eco system that continue to be discovered.

As well as physical life stories of healing with pets and animals that are related to humans, I have also encountered animal stories that many other people I know have come across also.

Animals have walked across meadows and fields to greet me, other creatures have come right up to me from a distance, sometimes to just say hello, birds have flown across my window, and while I was attending culinary school, leaving home at 4;00 am every day Monday to Friday, an owl sat beside the road in the same exact spot every single day, blinking a greeting to me. In each instance I would go online and check to see what the spiritual meaning was of that animal visiting me and allow the understanding to then sink in with the message they brought.

The photo in this article was taken in St. Ives, which is one of my absolute favorite parts of the World. This captured a great moment, in which a sweet seal came straight up to the boat I was having so much fun on and stared right at me, sent me immediately to the internet once I sat in a quaint cafe that served cream teas, to ask what the message was. I loved the message. I highly recommend finding information about an animal’s spiritual meaning so that their visits can be obvious.

I discovered that a seal when it appears is a symbol of creativity and talents that are potentially hidden. He symbolizes being trustworthy and filled with integrity. He also represents the high expectations in life. He is gentle and playful. All of the messages were appropriate at that time. I had taken a few days to go where I hadn’t visited in many years. I drove a long distance alone and stayed in a cute little cottage alone overlooking the powerful ocean. It was a breathtaking experience and the seal showing up and literally staring me down was a great confirmation.

I hope this inspiration and fabulous photograph taken by me, gets you fired up to discover what messages there are from the animal kingdom, for you. I will be so happy to hear your shares and stories of your own experiences……….

The second photo wasn’t taken by me, and was posted on social media some time ago. I looked closely at it and saw a spirit dog and a creature that is not of this World at all. You may see something different. I love when I am shown beyond this reality into other realms. I am so happy to have the courage and to be in a time in our life evolution to be able to share the visions I see. I am excited to do this and look forward to any comments or shares you may have of your own experiences. It is time for us to see, feel, experience and share outside of the box of conformity.
