Embrace The Void Newsletter

It’s always interesting to make a play on the words we’ve created in this life. I often think we have numerous ways to avoid things we would rather not face. This avoidance is almost a distraction from the truth and there are so many tactics of avoidance, to not face emotions, history, relationship dynamics and more. I haven’t met anyone who hasn’t avoided something.

Then there’s the void, which is a whole version of a variance on the topic. The void is considered something of a black hole and yet it’s a useful tool for silence and emptiness to go visit as often as we can, in order to create something new in the material world.

The void may be considered a version of the vortex that’s talked about in meditation as a state of nothingness, mindful open places for the higher mind. A space beyond the clock and compass of this reality, where extraordinary can be made manifest.

I remember when the monks of Tibet came to visit the area of my then healing center. It was a sweet space, filled with shelves of aromatherapy products for sale and rooms decorated in a shabby chic style. They all sat before the meditation they were facilitating, giggling at all the “stuff” and I could see their amusement compared to the simple and probably quite austere landscape of their own dwellings. My space was quite full while theirs I’m sure, represented a simpler version, like the void.

We often fill our lives with busy-ness business, yet we yearn for simpler and gentler experiences, that are more connected.

When I lived in sanctuaries and at the Ashram, the visiting monks and yogis had a simple and sparkly natural manner about them. They almost floated into a space and came with a soft energetic frequency that seemed effortless. Their meditations were wide open and empty, to allow each person receiving them to find their own frequency. I could more easily feel how full and busy my field of energy was. I loved the opportunity to empty out more, and to grant myself more space. Rather than avoiding the space, it was special to face the emptiness and allow the void to bring room to allow something greater in thought, feeling and potential action steps to show up. At some points in our existence we deserve to embrace the void, the space beyond the time and space of the material reality we are so accustomed to.
