Be Worthy - A Spiritual Story
One of my absolute favorite people in my entire life’s journey has been my mum, the other is my life partner, Jeff.
I discovered my mum’s value a bit later on, when both her and I had life changing circumstances, around the same time. We had both gone through divorce. Her from my father after 40 years of marriage, and me from my childhood and very first love. Both men had narcissistic tendencies, to be selfish to the point of cruel, publicly diminishing behavior.
We found a friendship that far exceeded that of mother and daughter, once we broke free of feeling squashed. We reminded each other of our worth, our value, of being loveable and beautiful, by our own standards and not anyone else's. We were there to remember how unconditional love is supposed to feel, how we are able to love without limits, be there for each other and care with unlimited depth. My mum was worthy of being loved and so was I. We were simply a good reminder of that fact.
I have yet to meet someone, anyone who isn’t worthy of love. I have yet to meet someone who isn’t worthy of compassion and care. Some that are the crustiest, harshest and most difficult probably need it more than anyone, especially because they don’t feel worthy and play that truth out, by making it true. Maybe when we love and care about them even more than they deserve, they will live up to and meet that point of reference.
Sometimes it is way easier to love them and care for them at a distance, so that we place our value and worth ahead of theirs. That can be important too. I’ve discovered that I can love and find worth in everyone, while I don’t have to place their feet under my dining table to prove it to me or anyone else. Some of those I have loved and valued, are far better at a distance, than up close and personal.
