Truth - A Spiritual Story

There aren’t too many gifts we can give ourselves, that are any bigger than the one of being honest with ourselves. It’s one thing to present whatever version of “us” we wish the World to see, and it’s quite another to stand in our authentic self.

There is something to being honest with ourselves and it’s easy to tell a lie and permeate it with so much energy that it seems almost true. However, we can’t really lie over time to ourselves, in our inner being. We do know what our truth actually is, whether we speak it aloud or not.

I’ve realized more and more, that my field of energy is emitting a signal of honest communication, whether I’m up for admitting it or not. Sometimes that can be a bit of a bummer. Sometimes I want to sell myself on some aspect of me that isn’t really true, but it’s packaged well and looks way better than what it really is.

I’ve done all the “untrue” stuff I’m hoping we all have done…….

I’ve definitely exaggerated to make a story much more interesting than it really was.

I have made light of something that was a heavy truth or a challenging burden.

There have been times when I’ve refused help or counsel or support, because I am the warrioress and can do this, “I’ve got this.” Sometimes I may have said I had this when I didn’t at all, and instead of allowing help and inviting in support, I carried on alone and felt lonely and sad.

I’ve loved discovering that it’s as lovely of a truth to help others as it is to ask for that loving help in our own journey of this life.

Being vulnerable is as important as standing as a strong rock to support and guide those who need our specific channel.

I love that my name is Ruth - Truth without the T. It’s a bar I wish to hold and reach, so that I’m answerable to my own best and greater truth and honesty.

Children are wonderfully honest, even to the point of cringe-worthy truths.

I remember once when a woman with very vibrant orange hair asked others what they thought of her new hair color. We were all fairly polite, humming with the comments of “it’s very unique” or it’s “colorful” and “fun.”  There was a little girl holding her mum’s hand, who chirped up that the color didn’t look real, and made the wearer of that bright orange seem like she was wearing a wig, because she was going to be a clown.

The funny thing was, we had each thought this, and wanting to support the already orange painted hair, we hadn’t been entirely honest. The little girl had spoken the truth we were all avoiding.

The next time we saw the woman, the hair wasn’t orange anymore. She had chosen a chestnut brown, close to her natural color, and it was shiny and gorgeous. A much better choice. It took a little honest child to speak to that which wasn’t serving the pretty friend, who deserved to be seen at her best. She let go of the clown and chose a sexy chestnut hair color to highlight her pretty face. She was free of expressions that were fun and not flattering. This was way better for her truth.

The truth really does set us free.
