Changes - A Spiritual Story

I know that to be highly effective on a spiritual path, we must ideally strive to remain on the positive side of reality. However, it’s easy to get sucked into some of the stories of our reality that we have to physically deal with, that can move us closer to the negative side of reality.

Balance is about the reflection of that which we are co-creating on the positive and that which is the opposing contrast on the negative or shadow side.

There are no shadows in the pure light of spirit which is without form. It’s the form and the physical that generates the shadow side. However, without bright sun, there are no shadows. The brighter the sunlight, the stronger and more solid the shadow.

Change can be about fully enjoying the sunlight, while observing and being aware of the shadows.

Effective changes come about with growing our awareness. This is a project that never ends while we are in human form. I’m not even sure it ends beyond the human form. Perhaps we will all find that out one day….

This story highlights changes.

Many years ago my mum was a shining example that humbled me forevermore.

She recently had a tumor removed from behind her nasal cavity that was so big, it left her with a disfigured face, no upper palette and one eye missing. She was still incredibly beautiful to me, partly because she went through this horrendous ordeal with grace and her gentle humor.

It had been suggested to her that she go to a support group for survivors to help her readjust life with a completely different face. Talk about change!

She went off in her little car, with her one eye and disability sticker firmly hanging from her wide lens mirror. When she came home, she had a little sparkle in her eyes, as we sat down to process her evening.

What she told me next, continues to make me smile, even while she is now passed beyond this life to the next.

She said she felt wonderful that she could be of such service to the community that were there, by being a bit of a positivity coach, and granting them hope. There were tears and hugs apparently, and she loved the opportunity it gave her. However, she didn’t want to go back, as she valued her healing time enough not to spend it helping others, when she had her own journey to focus on.

I loved her more after we spoke and had such respect for her choices in moving through the changes her body had demanded of her, with grace and love, and without feeling like she had to take care of anyone else in the stream of this truth.
