Belief to Knowing - A Spiritual Story
I have learnt, and continue to strengthen, this understanding that with practice many aspects of living on earth can transform from believing to knowing. Perhaps it comes with the age process and perhaps it naturally evolves with more experiences.
This next story isn’t to highlight any clever parlor tricks, it’s simply to illustrate an instance when believing has become a knowing for me.
I have been fortunate in life with opportunities that have presented themselves for me to share wisdom and to pass on some of the many teachings I have enjoyed.
One such time came about in one of my healing centers when I taught reflexology to a small group of hospice workers and owners in the same family.
Music played and the atmosphere was relaxed and light hearted. We all gathered in one of my healing rooms with foot baths, paraffin wax, fragrant creams we sold and charts we made to follow along with the science of pressure on the reflex points in the feet, that related to the body.
As the ladies pampered and pressed their feet, drank tea and relaxed, I had a vision while leading the class, that shook me to my core.
I saw large feet in strappy Mediterranean sandals, on a man’s feet, stomping through a large city with tall buildings, destroying it. The buildings were imploding and people were running, screaming, with dust, smoke and shrapnel falling on them. It was a strange scene.
I felt like it was New York or Chicago, and it was definitely an American city. It seemed like end of summer as the weather didn’t feel too cool, and people weren’t wearing heavy outer layers yet. The class asked me if I was alright as I turned a little pale. I felt that lives were lost and a city was devastated. I shared what I saw and told them it hadn’t happened yet.
They all looked surprised and the detail was quite clear and defined for us all to wonder what the heck I’d seen.
Within a few short weeks, because this story bothered me so much, I set up a free reading with a man who had contacted me for his own needs, who worked with the news, as an editor on a major paper. He readily agreed to meet me, as he had enjoyed such a good session before, that he was hoping for more information about him.
We sat down and I told him I wanted him to warn the cities of Chicago and New York that at the end of a summer (I wasn’t sure which one) they needed to prepare for a big loss, with buildings falling down and it may be a Divine intervention, because the sandals looked biblical. I thought maybe God was coming to stomp on our wayward choices.
He smiled and shook his head, telling me he would have no idea how to share something with no date, no defined reference and to warn people that God may stomp on a major city was more than far fetched. I understood that this was a far reach and thought he glanced at me as though I’d lost my mind, as he quickly finished his coffee and begged off to leave. I never saw or heard from him again.
Two years later we had 9/11 and the women in my class all rang me to gasp and remind me that I had visioned this reality two years earlier. I knew and felt really badly that I could not help prevent it, but in fairness my knowing did sound a little crazy without the context of reality that showed up later, to make sense of it all.
I really trusted my knowing at that point and forgave the vision of Worldly events that showed me what was to come. I still get future events and sometimes they challenge my need to share and try to change them. This is simply another way for the gifts to show up and it doesn't mean I have to fix the future, simply because I see a preview of it first.
This in itself is another knowing.
