Easy Pizza at Home
I love making pizza at home, in a way that when I close my eyes and take a bite, I'm transported to Italy. This recipe does that and I love it. It's a thin crust and I've made this with a cauliflower crust, a spelt crust and a regular crust. I make it on a regular BBQ on a large round pizza pan and honestly it has the flavor of a fire grilled pizza.
So, here's the recipe.........
CRUST
1 cup of warm water
1 packet of dry yeast
1 Tbsp sugar
2 1/2 cups of bread flour (or cauliflower) (or gluten free)
1 1/2 tsp salt
6 Tbsp Olive oil
1 tsp each of minced parsley and Italian seasoning
TOPPING
1 cup of tomato paste/pesto/ or white sauce base
2 cups of mozzarella or cheese of choice
1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced thin
1/2 cup onions, sliced thin
1/2 cup corn or artichokes - sliced
1/2 cup of each - toppings of choice, sliced thin
CRUST Method
Take warm water and 2 tsp yeast and sugar - allow it to bloom in one bowl
Add salt to the flour in another bowl.
Combine both bowls and mix. Adjust water or flour to create a soft, not too sticky or too dry dough. Add minced parsley and Italian seasoning
Spread on a floured board and roll and knead for 10 minutes to form a springy ball.
Spread olive oil in a larger bowl and place the dough ball in a warm place covered for an hour.
Once it's risen and grown roll out - I like to make it thin and then it's crispy - onto a large non-stick pizza pan spread with olive oil.
Turn BBQ on and heat to 375.
TOPPING method
Take a skillet and sauté the vegetables you're using with salt, pepper and any seasonings to pack loads of flavor for your pizza. Let them cool.
Take a small pallet knife and spread the sauce of choice on ( let me know if you need a sauce recipe - I have some really good ones)
Then add cheese right up to the edge.
Add slices of tomato and then all your toppings. Sprinkle with the remaining herbs and add more cheese.
Bake on the BBQ for 25 mins until the edges are golden and the toppings are cooked.
Remove from BBQ - Slice into desired shapes and Sizes - Enjoy your creation!!!
I hope you love this as much as I do!! If you have some really interesting ideas for toppings and such, please leave your suggestions in the comments section below!! I love that we can all learn from each other…
Blessings,
