Hanging On - A Spiritual Story

I know that when I have spoken of hanging on, I have tended to refer to it as causing more pain and that it’s a relief and a good thing to let go. However, there are exceptions to every rule and comment and I have several exceptions that illustrate where hanging on is wonderful and sweet.

As a therapist and former Spiritual counsel for Hospice, and as a therapist for all ages and stages in life, I have met some heartfelt stories of life and death, along with life changing times that inspire new beginnings, whether wanted or not. It’s always a pleasure to  share real  stories of healing with you that have touched my heart for all time, and I hope this reaches your heart too………

One of my clients who usually came to me for massage and healing guidance work within her sessions, told me she wanted to send her teenage son to me, as he was recently struggling with something he didn’t seem able or willing to share with her. She felt she needed to help him and it would take someone else to open him up to create a solution to whatever his secret issue was. I had her sign a release as he was only just 17.

A really ‘pretty’ young guy walked in at his designated time, introducing himself as Seth. He had big clear blue eyes, dimples and a cleft chin. Seth’s hair was thick, dark and wavy. He walked with passion and was quite beautiful. Seth had a real feminine air and I immediately visioned a gorgeous, slightly younger girl on his physical blueprint, who looked exactly like him, except with very long, thick tresses, bouncing down to below the waist. She was a 16 year old cheerleader in the early 1950’s. She loved life so much and it ended way too soon, in a horrible car wreck.

I found myself seeing her more than him, while I led Seth to my therapy room, to sit and talk. As we sat down, I let Seth know that if at any time he felt uncomfortable or wanted our session to end, he was in the driver’s seat. Seth laughed out loud, telling me that what he had to share was along that wavelength of driving.

He sat completely open, with big expressive eyes, telling me a story of how he saw friends and other high school kids in car accidents, and then within days, not even weeks, accidents happened in real time and kids were killed. Seth was really troubled by this and it had begun almost a year ago, just after his 16th birthday. He had tried everything to not see and was now feeling almost responsible, and it was more than a little crazy making for him to deal with.

I asked Seth if he was ready and willing to embrace the understanding before he could even consider not having these visions. He agreed. I had him remove his shoes, place his hands palms up in his lap, breathe deeply and close his eyes. I anchored him all the way down to his toes, into the earth, and then called in the Guides and Angels to support us, traveling together to the place where the girl he was in another time, had imprinted upon the Seth he was in the here and now.

His breathing became deep as we journeyed and the beautiful girl spirit was invited to speak with Seth, to let him know what she needed from him, so that she could run free, while he would be allowed to live his life as him and not as her. He was really deep and I could feel the conversation between them happening on a plane of existence far from the one we were experiencing in the now. I asked him to simply nod his head when she was complete and free of any burdens or lack of acknowledgment.

I continued to breathe loudly and encourage him to do the same. He understood why the spirit of her had been hanging on to him, and why she had intentionally shown him accidents to show how sad her end was for her. He had a couple of gentle tears of compassion fall silently down his cheeks, as he nodded that he was ready to begin to return to being Seth here. I felt as though they hugged and thanked each other, as I brought him back to the room. I knew he would not see accidents anymore.

He opened his eyes and was now full of being him. She wasn’t hanging on anymore. He had helped her continue her journey, while he could keep walking his. There was peace and it was time for him to hang on to his amazing life without reliving her last accident that took her away.
