Quiet Moments - A Spiritual Story

There are a great deal of quiet moments strewn into the fabric of my daily life. I’m not sure I could function without them honestly, because I find the world sometimes way too noisy and distracting. I often want to shush it so I can listen to the inner wisdom and the sweet, quiet voice within me.

There have been many times when someone sets a session for guidance and they use all their time talking about their story and receiving none of the higher guidance available to them. I so get it - there’s lots of times when nobody is listening to them, and they have a story to tell, concerns to share and want someone to talk to. It’s quite an honor to be that chosen individual to hear, see and experience them. This isn’t as much guidance, however, and more of a bouncing off board for them to feel heard.

I have learned to show up in the way that most honors and respects what the receiver on the other end is asking for. In the quiet moments of scribbling down notes on what they are saying, I am quietly listening to the guidance, and sending energy across the wavelengths we are sharing. I’ve realized even when I’m not doing anything, and the person is talking away, the energetic exchange is supportive, holding and loving. It sometimes really touches me deeply and I have even become quite weepy in those quiet moments.

I remember sitting in a church, where the minister let us know that his team had stopped at each and every seat and blessed the person who was going to sit in it. I closed my eyes and let that sweet truth in. The tears of loving gratitude gently poured down my cheeks at the recognition of that one simple act of kindness that cost nothing and meant everything to me.

The person sat behind me, placed her hand on my shoulder, interrupting my amazing moment, offering to pray for me and whatever suffering I was experiencing. I smiled and nodded and said nothing, returning to my own sweet and loving experience. It reminded me to not assume anything with anyone else. She assumed my tears were connected to suffering, when I was instead allowing and invoking the tears of gratitude for the sweetness of the blessing that had been offered to that chair and me. That quiet moment was a holy moment for me. I love those and always want more.
